Way to go, Ontario! And shame on you! Shame on you all!
Unsurprisingly - Mixed Member Proportionality didn’t win the super majority it required to pass. Getting 60% of the popular vote and 60% of all ridings was a complete setup for failure.
Mike’s a paid writer - so he says what I feel with so much more chutzpah than I could ever muster.
Congratulations, Ontario!
…you once again chose empty, middle-of-the-road political stasis!Whether it was ignorance, cynicism, habit, knee-jerk conservatism, fear, misinformation or good ol’ duh-ism, you actually managed to vote in contempt of your own democracy!
But hey, what’s a few more decades of political entropy? Heck, maybe after you’re all dead, you’ll have something close to a real democracy in this province!
I hope you’re happy with what you “accomplished”! You had a startlingly unique opportunity to change things for the better, but Ontario, you stood up and resisted! Now, it’s time to sit back down — perhaps in an easy chair of some sort — and rest comfortably, knowing you may have successfully destroyed this generation’s last chance at a truly fair system!
