What is the price of innovation?
Brian and I were on the train and having a talk about a software, large corporations and I made an offhand comment that I didn’t think that large companies like banks could innovate - that it was a cultural problem.
At this point, Brian just looked at me and asked: “Well….what’s the price of innovation?”
I started to answer the question…but then I realized I didn’t understand the question at all.
Me:
Training?
You need to hire more talented people?
Brian:
Nope.
The real price of innovation is trying to get people to accept that if they’re really innovating, sometimes - they’re going to fail - and getting people to be ok with failure is really really hard.
