ouch. osx - why must you hurt me so?
OSX decides to take a nosedive and eat my entire ~/Library directory.
So I’ve tweaked my Parallels configuration for WinXPSP2 so that it actually runs *faster* on my laptop under virtualization than my actual Windows XP desktop machine at my current contract gig.
That - if nothing else is a testament to just how nice Parrallels really is.
Now on to the horrible part - I tweaked the memory usage for my XP image to use 1GB of my 2GB of memory. Then I started up another XP image and then my Ubuntu image.
Then OSX’s WindowServer decided to crash.
Somewhere along the way, my entire Library folder was trashed.
Now - the horrible part of all this is that some programs decided to just recreate the directories that were need in ~/Library.
Others didn’t.
Bad. Very not good. Not good like the way that the horribly named “Yum Yum Pickles” are actually not good.
The end result of all this is that I had to restore everything from backups, except I did lose my configured XP and Ubuntu images.
Blech. Monday looks like it’s going to be reinstall XP day. Crap.
